The
English
word "unusual" was typed from the keyboard. The IPA transcription was
the output generated after a click on the "Enter" button. If
the
"Sound" checkbox has a checkmark, then the sound is played.
Phoneme Pop-ups
By positioning the pointer on any IPA symbol
within the
phonetic transcription and holding down the left mouse button, the
selected IPA symbol is shown in a small pop-up and the corresponding
phoneme is played. The pop-up is closed when the button is released.
The IPA
Chart for English
WikSpeak
includes an IPA Chart to hear
the phonemes corresponding to each IPA symbol. The "Chart"
button
opens the IPA Chart.
WikSpeak
running in Automatic Mode:
When the word
"although" was
selected and copied in the web browser, WikSpeak retrieved the phonetic
transcription automatically. If the "Sound" checkbox has a checkmark,
then the sound is played.
